To kick off celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the architect David Rockwell and his practice, the Rockwell Group in autumn 2014, Tomorrow PR organised a small press trip to New York to immerse a select group of media into the incredible restaurant, hotel and theatre environments the studio has created over the past three decades. Founded in 1984 in New York City the 150-person architecture and design firm is known for their strong sense of narrative and has dramatically changed the way we experience public spaces. The studio now has three offices and works globally, but it is in their home city where one can experience the largest and most diverse array of Rockwell Group spaces. Media attended the new Broadway show You Can’t Take It With You, visited iconic early projects such as Nobu New York and also newly opened hot spots such as Tao Downtown and Gato. The trip culminated in the opening party for the New York City Wine & Food Festival and a sneak peek at Chef’s Club restaurant in the historic Puck Building in SoHo. Rockwell Group’s new book, What If…?, was also launched the same evening. As a result of the trip, Tomorrow has secured in-depth profiles of David Rockwell and retrospective stories in publications such as Sleeper, PORT and Esquire Hong Kong.
