Michael Anastassiades exhibition

Michael Anastassiades

Today I visited Michael Anastassiades‘ latest exhibition, ‘One Well-Known Sequence’ at the recently decommissioned Camden garage that the designer will soon be turning into his new studio and workshop. I have long been a fan of Michael’s beautiful lighting collections for Flos and so was excited to see this new personal collection. The show presents a striking new collection of 11 linear lights exhibited in the stark industrial surroundings of the garage’s red concrete floor and blue painted walls. The lights, created for Milan-based Nilufar Gallery, are made from tubular LED bulbs and handmade brass rods in different configurations. Bulbs are either 1 or 0.5 metres long – some lights are suspended from the ceiling while others stand on circular bases as floor lamps. The mix of the beautifully crafted lights and the raw industrial space is very compelling indeed and the exhibition is well worth a visit.

One Well-Known Sequence, 50 Rochester Place, London, NW1 9JX. Until 17th October
