What do you get if you pair Jyo, Karam & Sunaina Sethi, the family behind Trishna, Gymkhana, Bubbledogs & Kitchen Table with the chef James Lowe (one third of the ground-breaking trio The Young Turks)? The answer is Lyle’s, a new British restaurant in Shoreditch which Irene and I set out to try earlier this week. Located in the Shoreditch monolith that is the Tea Building, Lyle’s is an elegant and utilitarian space designed by B3 Designers – all concrete floors painted brick and reclaimed wood. The food is appropriately simple and fuss-free and sharing plates are the order of the day. We opted for Asparagus, Walnuts & Lovage, Lamb’s Sweetbreads, Lettuce & Yoghurt and Turbot, New Season’s Garlic & Spring Greens. Each dish was beautifully executed and tasted sublime. Well worth a trip to Shoreditch. A little tip, the entrance is on Bethnal Green Road and not on Shoreditch High Street as the address suggests!
