Jose Frank at the Fashion and Textile Museum

Josef Frank, Patterns-Furniture-Painting at the Fashion and Textile Museum

Yesterday Pia and I visited The Fashion and Textile Museum in London. On  a rainy day in January, we were hugely excited about this first ever UK exhibition dedicated to artist and designer Josef Frank, with textiles, furniture and lesser-known works in watercolour. Josef Frank was and still is one of Sweden’s most influential designers. Best known for creating colourful and naïve fabrics and furniture for Svenskt Tenn’s, the Stockholm based interiors company founded by Estrid Ericson in 1924. Together the two refined the idea of Swedish Modern.  Josef Frank produced some 2,000 furniture sketches and 160 textile prints for the company as well as glassware and metalwork. The exhibition is a beautiful visual celebration of bold colours and patterns. It really is a must show see that will leave you feeling happy and inspired.
