Before opening in its present home on the Mall in 1968 the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) was based at 17-18 Dover Street – the current home of the iconic Dover Street Market. To celebrate this connection, Dover Street Market is staging ICA Off-Site.
This exciting exhibition/installation sees the ICA return to occupy its former home on Dover Street with an explosion of rarely seen archival material spread across all six floors of the space.
The stairwell has cleverly been turned into a timeline of the ICA so as you climb through the building you can trace the birth of Pop Art, Op Art and Brutalist Architecture and the staging of ground-breaking exhibitions by Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Pablo Picasso and Jackson Pollock. Dover Street Market is always an inspiring place to visit and this ICA Off-Site makes it even more so!
ICA Off-Site: Dover Street Market. Until 6th April.
