While in Istanbul this week for meetings with our new client Autoban, we had the opportunity to check out Gaspar, a new restaurant by Ferit Sarper. Ferit already has made quite a name for himself with his other Istanbul restaurant Münferit. Ferit also happens to be the husband of Seyhan Özdemir, one half of Autoban, so it came as no surprise that this restaurant, housed in a striking neoclassical building, in Istanbul’s up-and-coming Karaköy district, is Autoban’s latest design project in the city. Using overlapping wood panels of different colours on the walls and ceiling give this double height space in a former printing shop a cosy yet luxe feel. Thankfully the food is as great as the interiors. Our favourite dish? Grilled octopus with polenta, that was beyond incredible. This is definitely a place to check out next time you are visiting Istanbul.
