This year we have worked with the insanely talented designer Marcus Piper on the Tomorrow 2016 Christmas Card. I have known Marcus for many years and he was my first and only choice when it came to designing the Tomorrow logo back in 2014.
Now based on Australia’s South coast, Marcus is a multi award-winning typographer and digital craftsperson, he brings together past training in industrial design and a natural affinity for graphic design in innovative ways. As creative director of the seminal Australian magazine POL Oxygen, Marcus brought three dimensionality to magazine design at a time when many thought print was dead and has been the creative force behind Australian publication design ever since.
Talking about his inspiration for the 2016 Tomorrow Christmas card Marcus says:
“I remember being told that flying over Europe on New Year’s Eve was quite the spectacle – a spectrum of fireworks launching as the city lights come into focus. As we enter the Festive Season TOMORROW comes into focus, a new year and new horizons – we celebrate the year past and the world of tomorrow.”
Inspired by thoughts of flying into an uncharted destination on New Year’s Eve, we have created this simple animation to represent the positives and possibilities of travel, the unknown, and the joy that tomorrow holds.
Happy Holidays and all the best for 2017
