Donald Judd: Prints at 101 Spring Street

Typically open only for guided tours by appointment, it was a treat to pop in to a new Donald Judd prints show on the ground floor of the artist’s former loft at 101 Spring Street in New York’s Soho. Donald Judd: Prints is a bold and graphic collection of woodcut prints which has been curated by his daughter Flavin Judd. Better known for his Minimalist sculpture, Judd also created hundreds of prints on paper over the course of four decades and many of which are woodcuts made together with his carpenter father. The show has three complete series of prints created in the 1980s and 90s that explore color and proportion, themes that are seen throughout all of his work. An artist as well as a designer, the installation also shows some of his metal furniture designed in 1984. The open, airy space is a perfect environment for Judd’s work.
