Redchurch Street in E1 sits at the epicenter of the white-hot fire of regeneration that has swept through Shoreditch in recent years. It seems to have changed every time I visit. Today was no exception, and my latest great new find is Café And.
It doesn’t look like much from the outside but once inside you find yourself in a serene Japanese/Scandinavian nirvana that is part café and part concept store.
The shop at the front of the space stocks a beautifully edited mix of clothing, homeware and magazines including Kinto Glassware, Nomess containers and Brooklyn Slates cheeseboards.
The café at the back of the space draws inspiration from traditional Greek herbs and spices, it uses produce sourced from local artisan suppliers including Hackney Farm and offers a creative and well-balanced selection of salads, pies and soups, as well as an all-day breakfast menu. The cakes are particularly tasty and the whole space has a calm friendly bustle that is quite infectious.
