Bikini Berlin

On a recent trip to Berlin, I had a chance to explore the brand new Bikini Berlin development, which combines retail, offices, a cinema, hotel and urban park. Located West in Charlottenburg, Bikini Berlin is a great concept and feels like New York’s High Line meets Shoreditch Box Park. It has an incredible (and quirky!) location just beside the Berlin Zoo, which provides an amazing amount of green space and views of the nearby Tiergarten Park. Permanent shops like Vitra Artek and great German brands like Closed and Drei mix with an ever-changing array of ‘boxes’ housing temporary stores. The highlights for me were Gestalten’s new store & café, showing a well-edited selection of design and gifts alongside books, and the hip Werner Aisslinger-designed 25hours hotel, where I stayed for the weekend. It takes the jungle theme as its inspiration, so not only does every room have a hammock, you can peacefully gaze at the monkey cages right from your window!
