The Apartment Copenhagen

Tucked away in a private 18th century apartment building in the heart of Copenhagen’s Christianshavn is The Apartment, a gallery and shop that makes you feel as though you are stepping right into the home of the most discerning design lover. We stopped in during a recent visit to launch Dinesen’s showroom and the founder, Tina Seidenfaden Busck, kindly gave us a personal tour. Her background at Sotheby’s has helped train her expert eye for every detail and select the colourful mix of vintage pieces, handwoven Moroccan rugs, mid century lighting, contemporary art and furniture on display throughout the space. Sadly we just missed seeing the recent ‘residency’ by Ilse Crawford but many of the designer’s furniture designs are still on view, in addition to the work of Seidenfaden Busck favourites like Michael Anastassiades, Muller Van Severen, Patricia Urquiola and Gio Ponti. The curated array of design books that line the Vitsoe shelving and the McCollin Bryan Lens tables made from brightly coloured resin and brass were definite highlights. I’ll have to make it back some time soon for one of the monthly dinners hosted in The Apartment’s cosy kitchen and pretend, even for one night, that I actually live there.

The Apartment, is located at Overgaden neden Vandet 33, 2nd floor, 1414 Copenhagen K, Denmark and is open Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10am to 4pm or by appointment.
